13-14 of July brought festive mood to all the citizens of Kraslava and to its visitors. The city celebrated its holiday.The Daugava Festival got together more than 300 sportsmen from Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus. It was one of the most visited festivals held in Kraslava for the last years.
Summer is the season when nature showers down upon us lovely blossom of trees and flowers. It is the season when every person’s soul is longing to experience news emotions. 13-14 of July brought festive mood to all the citizens of Kraslava and to its visitors. The city celebrated its holiday.
The 14th of July brought festivities devoted to the Daugava – the pride of Kraslava. The citizens of Kraslava and its guests took part in the Daugava festival, which was co-organized by Latgale Planning Region, Kraslava District Council within the EU-funded project Nr.LLB-1-098 'Fostering Capacity for Tourism Development in Latgale-Utena-Vitebsk Cross Border Region' (BELLA DVINA 2), which is being implemented within the Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus Cross-Border Cooperation Programme. The Daugava Festival brought together more than 300 sportsmen from Latvia (Kraslava, Aglona, Dagda, Livani, Preili and Rezekne districts), Lithuania and Belarus. Despite the weather the sportsmen took part in various competitions: angling, kayak marathon, adventure route, streetball tournament , which lasted longer than 7 hours. This day became a real international sports holiday.
Festivities took place at the city square as well. The sounds of Latvian, Lithuanian and Belarusian folk music filled the streets of Kraslava. Overfilled with emotions, the day came to an end at the city stage. The townspeople welcomed singers and dancers from Kraslava, Lithuania and Belarus. Hardly had the storm of applause calmed down, the sky was illuminated by fireworks. The music went on and the stage turned into a great dancing floor! It was one of the most visited festivals held in Kraslava for the last years.
