The first route elaboration workshop took place on the 13th of July. It defined further steps in project implementation, particularly – the conception of a new brochure and the elaboration of 5 new transboundary routes.
The first route elaboration workshop took place at the recreation centre “Dridzi” in Kraslava region. It was attended by tourism experts and project coordinators from Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus. During the meeting the project manager Tatiana Kozacuka informed the experts about further steps in realization of the project Bella Dvina 2 and recounted already attained goals. The participants of the meeting shared experience in elaboration of local and international routes and their popularity among the tourists.
Within the project Bella Dvina 2 with the aim to attract more tourists and make them familiar with tourist offer of the Baltic lake region and Bella Dvina region 5 transboundary routes will be worked out. After some discussion the following route themes were chosen: 1. A weekly holiday for a family in the Baltic lake region and Bella Dvina region; 2. A tourist route for a group in the Baltic lake region and Bella Dvina region (7-day route for groups with more than 20 people); 3. A 7-day route around TOP objects in the Baltic lake region and Bella Dvina region. 4. A water route, which includes local water routes; 5. A natural route in the Baltic lake region and Bella Dvina region (7-day route).
Duty experts in every region were selected for the elaboration of each route. It was also settled that a detailed map will be added to every segment of the route. The experts also discussed the conception of a new brochure “Your best holiday in Latgale, Aukstatia and Vitebsk region” underlining the importance of pointing out 5-10 top objects in each region and only then giving the information about the rest of the region.
The workshop was organized within the EU-funded project 'Fostering Capacity for Tourism Development in Latgale-Utena-Vitebsk Cross Border Region' (BELLA DVINA 2), which is being implemented within the Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.
